                                                               Here are our wonderful Bees!

Summer A - The First Railways

This half term we will be exploring the topic of railways and trains. We will be looking at steam and electric trains, different destinations, how railways were built, jobs and famous trains.

The railway sytem started with the building of local isolated wooden wagonways starting in 1560s. The system was later built as a patchwork of local rail links in late 18th century. These links developed during the railway boom of the 1840's into a national network.

This half term we will be reading the story 'The Magic Train Ride'.

Spring B - Volcanoes and Earthquakes

this half term we are going to be learning about volcanoes and earthquakes. We will be exploring different sensory experiences of how volcanoes look and erupt. We will be making our own mini volcanoes in class and helping to build a larger volcano outside with the whole of minibeats. We will explore the colour, sound and feel of our own made lava. When experiencing earthquakes we will use different equipment like drums, physio bouncy balls and parachute games.

In English we will be reading the book 'Trip to the Volcano'.

Spring A - The Shang Dynasty

This half term we are going to be learning about the Shang Dynasty. The Shang dynasty was an era that lasted from 1600BC to 1046BC and was situated in the yellow river valley. The children this half term will be learning about where China is, King Tang, different landmarks in China, Chinese foods, the clothes they wore and much more. At the end of this half term we are going to do a big Chinese celebration with the whole of minibeats, so make sure you check back in for the pictures on our gallery.

Our book this half term is the Chinese New year which tells the story of the 12 zodiac animals. In maths we are focusing on using and applying.

Autumn B - UK and Poland

This half term in Bees our theme is the UK and Poland, and we are going to be looking at the things which are the same and different, ie foods, buildings and in December how we both celebrate Christmas.

This week we had a Polish assembley delivered by some of our lovely Mum's, and we then had walk up to Swinton to visit Abi's polish shop, where we got to try some crisps and chocolate.

Have a look in the gallery at our pictures.

Autumn A - Vikings

This half term our Theme is Vikings. We are looking at our story about Hiccup the Viking and we are going to make lots of fun things. We have made a helment, and we are going to make some rune stones as well. Hope you will enjoy looking at our pictures in the Galleries.

Viking Day- Tuesday 9th October

On Tuesday we had a visit from a real Viking, he brought in lots of furs, weapons and other items they used for daily living. We all enjoyed looking at the different artifacts.
