Year 2 Term 3 Week 24 - End of The Year

Well, we got here at last.

Its been another year and it has flown by but we've achieved some interesting waymarks on our little journey in Outdoor Learning:  We've started Forest School, two of them in fact.  We've had children coming out consistently and constantly into our Outdoor Learning area (sometimes the adults came out too) learning about all sorts.  I preferred the things that involved open fires and food but I'm biased.

We put dens up, we went on bug hunts, we had nature art, we took pictures, we sowed seeds, we played games, we added to compost bins and turned them and put it on some of the vegetable plots that we dug up.   We used tools, we built mini planters, we just came out and sat among the trees, we made mud cakes and mud pies, we built wormeries, WE BUILT A VOLCANO! AND SET IT ALIGHT!  We ran around with wheelbarrows and learnt to make a fire, we looked at what plants we had in Outdoor Learning and we made nettle tea, we had the Cubs and Beavers come out for a Jamboree day and the "trees" section of the school made some massive bugs and put them outside.  We went on rope swings and we climbed trees, we built assault courses, we had sensory sessions where we put our feet in mud and leaves and made mud prints and leaf prints.  And we've only just begun.

I'll see you next year.
